NEW CURRICULUM FOR YEAR 6

In Year 6 pupils develop their skills further to design and make a zipped pencil case. The
task involves creating a brick wall backdrop with a personalised graffiti inspired design.
Pupils learn how to hand stitch an applique name and install a zip. Using the sewing
machine.

Other skills include: how to analyse existing products against the design brief, identifying
how the design brief is met and ways to meet more of the design criteria.
Develop a range of clearly annotated and well thought out design ideas, adapting and
developing different aspects of a main idea.
Annotations show clear links to the design brief and identify colours, techniques, materials
and tools to be used.

All practical work is supported with design and evaluation tasks.
