Careers

Are you an Employer or Educator?

If you are an employer or higher further education provider who would be interested in reaching out to our students to help inspire them to make excellent career and education choices (for example by delivering a talk, workshop or other workplace experience), please contact the careers lead via the school office email (office@lockyersmiddle.org).

Our Careers Lead is Mr G West.

Careers Policy 2025/2026

Our Programme

In Key Stage Two, pupils are challenged to think about the stereotypes that may impact upon their decisions when looking at future career paths, and to explore the huge range of career options that are available to them.

Throughout Key Stage Three, pupils are also provided with clear information about career paths and the labour market to inform their own decisions.  Links to potential careers, to real life contexts and the links between subjects and careers are woven throughout the curriculum.  In addition to this, pupils are provided with opportunities to learn how the different STEM subjects help people gain entry to, and be successful in, a wide range of careers.  We aim to provide pupils with meaningful encounters with employers and higher education providers during their time at the school; enrichment activities including a range of visiting speakers and access to a careers fair.

Every pupil in Year 7 and 8 has one tutor based careers lesson per week detailed in the overview link below.
